Mark & Ann Teale bought the Hotel in 2004, before that they had various other adventures:
Mark began his working life at the age of 9 helping in his Dad's fish & chip shop near Polesworth. Various other jobs followed such as butchers boy, milkman, and life guard. He gained a degree from the University of Nottingham and worked at Baddesley colliery for 6 years before moving to Doncaster with British Coal's Operational Research Unit (and getting another degree at the University of Sheffield). In 1992 he left to become a senior lecturer at the University of Lincoln where he led the Operations management section. With the publication of a book he decided that University (certainly the current environment) has little more to offer, so became his own boss. Other than cleaning the toilets in the hotel, his interests include walking, fishing, playing music, and karaoke singing. As a local Counsellor he looks after the village web-site and is helping to develop a Parish Plan
Ann began her working life at Boots in Sutton Coldfield. She gained a degree in Graphic design from the University of Wolverhampton. She has always painted and enters local exhibitions regularly. A lot of her time has been taken with feeding Mark and their 3 children and lately hungry guests. Ann is on the local PPC and spends a lot of time helping with church related matters.
